General Notes (Wife)

According to my grandmother Winifred Theobald Thomas, Edith Denniston never legally married Gorton Theobald.
After extensive searching, there has been no record of this marriage taking place.

Later she did marry Jack Cathcart.

She started having children, at quite a young age - about 14.
She didn't live with Gorton Theobald for long. She lived in a brothel in Lockport, NY. She was a hooker. Complete with a madam and all!
Later, she was a madam.
She used the 'stage name' Mabel.
My grandmother even entered her mother's name as Mabel in her bible. She later crossed it out and wrote the correct name.

She carried the name Mabel from the time she was a hooker, throughout the rest of her life. The name listed on her Obituary, funeral card etc. appears as Mabel Cathcart.

My grandmother (Winifred E. Theobald Thomas), told stories about going to visit her at the brothel when she was a child. Of course, she always swore people to secrecy about this information.

Any information about her is appreciated.
